KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Weightlifting Association on Saturday opened the Weightlifting Training Academy in Kirtipur. Former Member Secretary of National Sports Council Keshav Sthapit and Kirtipur Municipality Mayor Ramesh Maharjan inaugurated the Academy.
KDWA President Bijendra Shah thanked Nepal WL Association vice-president Rukesh Tandukar for making the project possible.
"We have aimed at producing champion lifter who can contribute for the nation in future," said Shah. Kirtipur Ward No 6 office provided the building for the academy, while KDWA has managed necessary equipment.
Ward Chairman Nuchhe Bahadur Maharjan said the ward office was planning to construct other sports facilities in the days to come.
