KATHMANDU: The fifth Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Sani Housing Women’s Double League Volleyball Tournament will begin from May 27 to June 5, organisers Dhorpatan Sports Training Club said here on Tuesday. A total of eight teams — Gyanu Baba Boarding School, Fishtail Academy and Tops School from Pokhara, Nepal Police Club, PLA Sports Club, New Diamond, Angel Heart and Majdur Shahid Smriti Sports Club — will be participating in the tournament. The winner of the league will pocket Rs 202,000 while the first and second runners up will earn Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000. Also the team rounding up in top six finishes will get Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 informed the organisers. Gyanu Baba are the defending champions of the tournament. The best player of the tournament will take home one tola of gold while other best individuals — spiker, lifter, blocker, defender — will also be awarded. The organisers also said all the players will have the insurance worth Rs 25,000.
