MARSEILLE: France legend Zinedine Zidane on Tuesday welcomed the appointment of his former international team-mate Didier Deschamps as the new coach of French league leaders Marseille. “If they made this decision, it’s because they’ve really thought about it,” said Zidane, who inspired France to the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championship. “I wish him (Deschamps) nothing but happiness. After the good work of (Eric) Gerets, Marseille needed a coach like him.”
