Ablution rites on the 13th day of late Ex-PM Koirala's passing

KATHMANDU: Ablution rites were performed today on the 13th day of the passing away of Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.

The rites performed on the 13th day of the demise as per the Hindu custom were carried out at the residence of Dr Sashank Koirala.

The Nepali people's seven decades old wish of writing constitution from the Constituent Assembly materialised on September 20, 2015 under Koirala's premiership.

Leader Koirala, who established himself as a leader living a simple lifestyle, passed away on February 9 due to pneumonia.

Koirala's nephews Atul Koirala and Sudhanshu Koirala observed the obsequies rites performed until 13 days after a person's death.

Nepali Congress acting president Ram Chandra Poudel, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, party office-bearers, leaders and cadres as well as members of the general public attended the rituals.

The Nepali Congress central committee is to hold a condolence meeting at Shanti Vatika, Ratna Park tomorrow to pay tribute to the late leader. RSS
