Chinese team calls on Bhandari
KATHMANDU: The visiting Chinese delegation led by Major General Jia Xiaoning today met Defence Minister Bidhya Devi Bhandari at the latter's office in Singha Durbar.
According to a source at the ministry, the delegation expressed its readiness to launch different development activities, mainly in the districts bordering China. The delegates reasoned that security and development of these districts should go together. They maintained that China was going to invest in the bordering districts to minimise possible anti-china activities. The delegation informed Bhandari that it would provide non-lethal weapons and training to Nepali Army. They would intensely discuss the matter with the CoAS Chhatra Man Singh Gurung.
A press statement issued by Department of Public Relations of the NA stated that the delegation had assured of providing Rs 28 million Yuan to the NA within the next five years.
