Four arrested on suspicion of murder

Rautahat police yesterday took under control a woman’s body being prepared for cremation and arrested four persons on suspicion of murder from the banks of the Lalbakaiya River in Katahariya Municipality.

As per District Police Office, Rautahat, the body of Ram Kumari Devi Sah, 35, of Katahariya-5 was taken under control.

Police claimed that they had received information that Ram Kumari was murdered by her husband Bijaya Sah Sonar on Monday night.

As per locals, there was a heated argument between the two on Monday night and Bijaya had beaten her black and blue.

“Critically injured Ram Kumari Devi might have died for want of treatment,” as per DSP Ram Kumar Dani. There are bruises on her neck and body,” added DSP Dani.

Bijaya’s brother Bhantu Sah, niece Ram Balak Sah and Raj Kumari’s brothers Raj Kishor Sah and Suresh Sah were also arrested from the site.

“As they might have been involved in the murder, investigation is under way,” said DSP Dani.

However, Bijaya managed to flee the scene after seeing security personnel.

Police seized bottles filled with petrol and 5 kilograms of sugar from the banks of the river. The body has been sent to District Hospital Gaur for post-mortem.
