Locals, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police are building a temporary sandbag embankment in Susta, West Nawalparasi, as rising water levels in the Narayani River increase the risk of flooding and erosion.
The effort follows allegations that an earlier temporary embankment was demolished by India's SSB.
Locals have long demanded a permanent embankment, warning that temporary measures offer only short-term relief and leave the area vulnerable to flooding and erosion during the monsoon.
