Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) just got brighter. LMC inaugurated another phase of its smart street light project on Wednesday, installing 1,930 LED lights across the 7.9 km ring road (Balkumari-Balkhu) and inner and service lanes, aimed at enhancing road aesthetics and reducing nighttime traffic accidents.
Started around seven years ago with the installation of 669 LED smart street lights alongside a Centralized Control and Monitoring System for the Nepal Electricity Authority, LMC brought the first smart LED street light system to Nepal.
It now has 5,089 smart street lights citywide, as per LMC. And the endeavour continues, as LMC says it is working toward becoming Nepal's brightest metropolitan city.
