2 Palestinians killed after stabbing Israeli soldier

JERUSALEM:  Israel's military says 2 Palestinians attacked a soldier with knives in the West Bank, wounding him before forces shot and killed them.

It said the attack occurred in Hebron, a frequent flashpoint for violence and the largest Palestinian city in the West Bank where some 850 Israelis live in heavily-guarded enclaves surrounded by tens of thousands of Palestinians.

The bloodshed was the latest incident in over two months of almost daily Palestinian attacks.

Since mid-September, 19 Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks. At least 104 Palestinians were killed, including 69 said by Israel to be attackers. The rest died in clashes with security forces.

Israel blames the violence on incitement by Palestinian leaders and on social media sites. Palestinians say it stems from a lack of hope of gaining statehood.
