Nepal sees sharp spike in reported number of Covid-19 cases as authorities confirm over 300 infections, 332 to be precise, after witnessing months of declining trend
KATHMANDU, APRIL 08
Nepal on Thursday reported 332 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 279,100.
Of the total cases recorded today, Kathmandu holds the highest number of new infections with cases 139 recorded today.
Likewise, 79 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.
As of today, 273,608 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98 per cent.
Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 2,454.
The nationwide death-toll currently stands at 3,038 with zero Covid-related fatality reported today.
According to the health ministry, 4,006 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,302,173 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.
Currently, there are 77 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 278,768 with 298 newly confirmed cases.
Globally, over 133 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.9 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19.
Likewise, over 107 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 22 million cases are still active.
