FBI arrests 10 in graft crackdown

SAN JUAN: FBI agents arrested 10 Puerto Rico police officers on Tuesday as the US territory struggles to crack down on corruption during a federally mandated police department reform. An official said several of the officers face drug-dealing charges.

Some of the arrests took place at police precincts in the capital of San Juan. No further details were immediately available.

Puerto Rico’s police department is the second largest in a US jurisdiction, and more than 100 officers have been arrested in the past five years as local and federal authorities push to root out corruption.
