Hong Kong, July 1:

Thousands of protesters marked the eighth anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to Chinese rule today, marching through the streets and demanding more democracy in one of the world’s most important financial centres. There was no official crowd count, but the demonstration was smaller than in the previous two years, when about a half million people joined in.
