Musharraf may address Jews in US

Islamabad, August 24:

For the first time in history, a top Pakistani leader will interact with the Jewish community in the US if President Pervez Musharraf addresses the Council for World Jewry (CWJ) there next month.

The Jewish community has extended an invitation to Musharraf to address the Council when he visits the US to take part in the UN General Assembly, a Pakistani official said. “Yes, there is an invitation but it has not yet been accepted,” the official said. Pakistan does not recognise Israel and has no diplomatic relations with it and the Jewish community. The green Pakistani passport even reads: “Valid for all countries except Israel.”
