Pak still controls flow of terror: Manmohan

New York, September 14:

A day before his dinner meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh upped the ante on cross-border terror and told US President George W Bush about Islamabad’s continuing support to terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Islamabad “still controls the flow of terror” into the Himalayan state, Singh told Bush during a 30-minute meeting, his first engagement after arriving here yesterday to attend the UN General Assembly session.

Although Manmohan Singh is likely to convey to Musharraf New Delhi’s strong views on cross-border terror, other substantive issues like the resolution of the Siachen glacier and Sir Creek are also likely to see a forward movement during discussions between the two leaders.

Some Kashmir-linked confidence building measures may come up for consideration. Singh is hosting a dinner for Musharraf tonight during which the two leaders are expected to discuss the progress of the peace process between the two neighbours.
