SC adjourns plea on seer bail

New Delhi, January 17:

The Supreme Court today adjourned by two weeks a plea filed by the Tamil Nadu government seeking cancellation of bail granted by the Madras High Court to Shank-aracharya Jayendra Saraswathi in an assault case.

The apex court adjourned the state government’s special leave petition to enable the prosecution to file additional documents.

The Shankaracharya, who was arrested on November 11 in the case related to the murder of temple official A Sankararaman, was granted bail by the apex court on January 10 and released from Vellore prison the next day.

Meanwhile, the bail plea filed by junior Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi, arrested in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, was Monday adjourned to Jan 19.
