10 killed in mishap

MULTAN: A speeding bus rammed a crowded auto rickshaw along a road in eastern Pakistan on Sunday, killing all 10 people in the rickshaw, police said. The accident took place near Multan, a major city in eastern Punjab province. The rickshaw’s driver and seven other people in the three-wheel vehicle died on the spot, police officer Naeem Babar said. — AP

Pak soldiers killed

MIRANSHAH: Two Pakistani soldiers were killed and another wounded when their vehicle was blown up by a roadside bomb in a remote tribal region near the Afghan border, the military said on Sunday. Two killed in bombing

GUWAHATI: Suspected militants on a motorcycle lobbed grenades outside a police station in India’s northeastern Assam state, killing two civilians and wounding 10 other people, police said on Sunday. At least three police were among the injured in the attack on Saturday night in the town of Changsari. — AP

Troops, rebels clash

JAKARTA:Indonesian troops and Acehnese rebels clashed briefly on Sunday, but there were no injuries, officials said. Both sides confirmed the incident close to the provincial capital Banda Aceh, but accused each other of firing first. It was the third violent incident reported in the province since the government and rebels signed a peace accord earlier this month. — AP
