PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad has predicted that the Nitish Kumar government of Bihar would fall by October 28, the day his party holds a rally in the city. Lalu Prasad, a former state chief minister, said the bickering in the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and restlessness among the legislators would lead to the collapse of the government. “The Nitish Kumar-led government will not last for long. It is bound to fall before October 28 when RJD will hold a rally in Patna,” said Lalu Prasad on Saturday at a RJD workers camp at Ragir. — HNS

4 killed in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO: Four civilians were bound and shot dead execution-style in northern Sri Lanka near the scene of heavy battles between troops and Tamil rebels, a police official said on Sunday. The bodies of the four were found shot in the head with their hands tied behind their backs in Vavuniya district. “Four people were found shot dead at Tavasakulam in Vavuniya,” said a police officer in Vavuniya. — AFP
