N Korea nuke talks

Negotiations aimed at ending North Korea’s nuclear weapons aspirations resumed on Tuesday, but prospects for progress were uncertain as Pyongyang remained insistent on its right to a civilian atomic programme. Envoys from China, Japan, Russia, the US and the two Koreas gathered at a state guest house in Beijing to continue the fourth round of talks since 2003 on the issue. — AP

Ultra gets death

JAKARTA:

An Indonesian Islamic militant was sentenced to death on Tuesday for plotting a deadly bombing at the Australian embassy. Iwan Darmawan Mutho, alias Rois, had been proven “legally and convincingly guilty” of terrorism and hiding the perpetrators of terrorism, said chief judge Rocky Panjaitan at Jakarta District Court. — AFP
