Tibetans’ appeal to Canada PM

Dharamsala: Tibetan exiles on Saturday called on Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin to meet the Dalai Lama on his upcoming visit to Ottawa, accusing the Canadian leader of bowing to pressure from China. The Ottawa government has said it is unlikely Martin will meet the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader who will tour Canada from April 19 to May 5. “It is due to pressure from China over trade,” said Pema Jungney, the speaker of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile based here. — AFP
