95 fuel tankers enter via Birgunj

Altogether 95 fuel tankers entered the country through Raxaul-Birgunj route today as the Raxaul Depot of Indian Oil Corporation started providing load to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC)'s tankers.

Over 1.4 million litres of fuel was supplied to the country from Raxaul Depot today, as per Sushil Prasad Sharma, information officer of Birgunj Customs Office.

Tankers, which have a capacity of 12 kilolitres and 20 kilolitres, have been assigned in the Raxaul-Birgunj route, according to NOC. Raxaul Depot started refilling NOC tankers from Monday after the United Madhesi Democratic Front lifted its four-and-a-half month long blockade at the Birgunj border crossing. Birgunj Customs Office informed that a total of 24 fuel tankers entered country on Monday.

As per Sharma, among the 95 fuel tankers that entered the country via the Birgunj check point, 59 were loaded with diesel, 21 with petrol, 12 with aviation turbine fuel and three with kerosene. Apart from this, four liquefied petroleum gas bullets of 18 tonnes capacity each entered via Birgunj today.

During normal times, Raxaul Depot provides load to 150 to 200 tankers daily.
