17 MPs take part in impeachment debate; next meet Monday
KATHMANDU: As many as 17 lawmakers took part in the discussion on the impeachment motion filed against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki on Friday.
Now, the discussion would resume on Monday, according to Speaker Onsari Gharti.
It was the second day that the House considered the motion registered by 157 lawmakers of CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre. Earlier, the discussion was held on October 25.
As many as 11 lawmakers besides the proposer and the seconder had aired their views on the motion on the first day.
Those speaking today included Chitra Bahadur KC, Dhan Raj Gurung, Milan Rajbanshi, Yasoda Kumari Lama, Sher Bahadur Tamang, Jagadish Narsingha KC, Rajaram Syangtan, Bharat Saud, Panchkarna Rai, Sita Giri and Surendra Chaudhary among others.
While the proposing parties have already decided to vote for the motion against Karki, the largest force in the House–Nepali Congress–is yet to make any decision over the issue.
Leaders of the party have been airing conflicting views on whether to support the motion.
