Current coalition to stay intact till federal polls, says PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday said the current ruling coalition would remain intact till all three polls at local, provincial and federal level would be over.

Addressing his party's Parliamentary Party meeting in Kathmandu on Friday, the leader said, "We will be staying in the government until all elections will be over. Therefore, we also need to make the party's role more effective."

Meanwhile, Dahal told his party that his upcoming India visit would be focused on maintaining balance between ties with India and China.

Chief Whip picked, Parliamentary Board formed

Meanwhile, the meeting elected lawmaker Tek Bahadur Basnet Chief Whip of the party. The post was vacant after the then Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey was appointed the Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development.

It also formed a 14-member Parliamentary Board, comprising the PP Leader Dahal, Deputy Leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Chief Whip Basnet, Whip Sita Nepali and lawmakers Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Haribol Gajurel, Agni Prasad Sapkota, Shakti Basnet, Prabhu Sah, Ganesh Man Pun, Rekha Sharma, Ram Narayan Bidari, Santu Darai and Shiva Kumar Mandal.

Likewise, Bidari has been appointed the Parliamentary Board Secretary.

Lawmakers Shiva Kumar Mandal, Ramsingh Yadav, Santu Darai, Krishna Dhital, Dor Prasad Upadhyaya, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi and Harilal Gyawali have been appointed coordinators for the provinces, from Province One to Province Seven respectively.
