Deuba panel sweeps NC PP members poll
Kathmandu, April 8
Nepali Congress has elected 22 Parliamentary Party working committee members, a majority of whom are from party president and PP leader Sher Bahadur Deuba’s panel.
Of the total 22 elected members, 18 are close to Deuba while four belong to the rival faction led by Ramchandra Paudel.
The election held on the premises of NC’s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar elected Pramila Devi Das and Rashmi Thakur in Madhesi (female) category; Ram Ayodhya Prasad Yadav in Madhesi (male); Asha BK in Dalit (female); Narbhan Kami in Dalit (male); Gyan Kumari Chhantyal and Asha Gurung in indigenous (female); Tirtha Lama and Aang Tawa Sherpa in indigenous (male); Gita Wagle and Madhu Shahi Thakuri in Khas Arya (female); Rajan KC in Khas Arya (male); Bhotani Devi Khawas in Tharu and Abdul Rajjak in Muslim categories.
Similarly, Deepak Khadka was elected representing Province 1; Prem Kishor Prasad Sah Teli was elected from Province 2; Dhyan Govinda Ranjit from Province 3; Ram Chandra Pokharel from Province 4; Bikram Khanal from Province 5; Tapta Bahadur Bista from Province 6 and Bharat Bahadur Khadka from Province 7.
Of the 22 elected PP working committee members, Rajan KC, Dipak Khadka, Ram Chandra Pokharel and Bharat Bahadur Khadka are from Paudel panel.
As many as 42 lawmakers had filed their candidacies for 22 positions of the Nepali Congress PP working committee membership yesterday.
Rajeev Bikram Shah was unanimously elected as he was the only contender for reserved position for lawmakers from the backward region.
