House meet delayed as parties attempt to revise amendment
KATHMANDU: The Parliament meeting called for 3 pm today has not started yet as of 5:30 pm as big parties consolidated discussions to revise the Constitution Amendment Bill.
The House is scheduled to put the Bill to vote for endorsement today.
Earlier, a meeting of major five political parties - the main opposition Nepali Congress and four ruling parties - had decided to endorse the Bill after changing some language of the Bill.
The three-member task force comprising a leader each of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist was assigned with making the changes.
The task force meeting is currently underway.
Leaders of the ruling CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic were present in the meeting along with the NC this morning.
