Big III, UDMF to form separate mechanism to resolve state demarcation row

KATHMANDU: Task forces of the big three political parties and agitating Untied Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have decided to form a separate political mechanism to resolve the issue of demarcation of provincial boundaries.

During a meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar on Friday, the task forces have decided to made an utmost attempt to form the separate political mechanism.

The meeting has decided to form the mechanism before the PM's India visit.

Prime Minister KP Oli called the meeting of the task forces of major parties and UDMF for the first time after the Front formally announced to end the four-and-half-month border blockade, general shutdown and obstructions at government offices on Monday.

Emerging from the meeting, Nepali Congress leader Mahesh Acharya said that positive discussion for the resolution of different problems including Madhes agitation was held in the meeting.

Similarly, Sadbhawana Party Co-Chairman Laxman Lal Karna said that they urged the Prime Minister to iron out the internal conflicts of the country before he departed to India.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will embark on a five-day official visit to India beginning February 19.
