Nepali Congress issues whip to vote for no-confidence motion

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress on Thursday issued a whip to its lawmakers, directing to vote for a no-confidence motion the party registered against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The party had filed the no-trust motion against the Prime Minister on July 13.

The party's Parliamentary Party meeting held at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor this morning made the decision to that effect.

The party also urged its lawmakers to be present at the Parliament meeting scheduled for 11 am today.

The Parliament is scheduled to begin discussion on the no-confidence motion today.

It is unlikely that the motion would move in a normal way, as the ruling CPN-UML had decided to obstruct the House proceedings if the budget-related bills were not put for debate first.

The CPN Maoist Centre on Wednesday had also issued a whip to its lawmakers, instructing to vote for the no-confidence motion.
