NOC mulls over fuel distribution to public and emergency vehicles only

KATHMANDU: It has been learned that Nepal Oil Corporation is preparing to sell petroleum products to the public vehicles and the ones providing emergency services only to tackle the aggravating fuel shortage.

Serpentine queues of two-wheelers and four-wheelers have been a common sight in the Kathmandu Valley waiting for petrol and diesel.

The state-owned oil monopoly has already enforced rationing to distribute fuel in its stock which has been dwindling in the wake of obstruction in supply from India to Nepal.

Hundreds of fuel tankers have been stranded in the India side after the agitating Madhesi parties launched their protest at the major border entry points.

Meanwhile, some tankers ferrying petroleum products from India entered Nepal through the customs point at Bhairahawa today.

Fuel distributed

NOC said it distributed 96,000 litre petrol and 2,22,000 litre diesel to different stations from its depot at Thankot.

The Armed Police Force's station at Halchok, Sajha Bhandar's station at Swayambhu, National Trading's station at Teku, Sajha Nepal Army's station at Bhadrakali, Sajha Sewa's station at Pulchok, Indrayani Oil Store at Sanepa, Shakti Devi Petrol Pump at Lagankhel, Guhyeshwari Fuel Station at Thimi and  Nepal Police's fuel station at Naxal received different volume of petrol.
