Pakistani PM, CPN MC Chair Dahal discuss bilateral relations, SAARC summit

KATHMANDU: Visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a meeting at Hyatt Regency Hotel in the capital this morning.

The two leaders dwelt on the agenda of bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan.

Talking to media in brief following the meet, Chairperson Dahal said that matters related to bilateral relations and mutual interests were discussed in the meeting.

In around 45-minute talk, they also discussed the measures for improving bilateral trade and economic relations between Nepal and Pakistan.

CPN MC Chair Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, said the meeting also stressed the need of initiative from all member-states to revitalise the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Chairperson Dahal also shared that the Pakistani Prime Minister briefed that Pakistan was continuously carrying out efforts to put forward the SAARC Summit.

Present in the meeting were Maoist leader and Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Jokh Bahadur Mahara along with Chairperson Dahal.

The Pakistani Prime Minister is scheduled to return home today itself after paying a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari later.
