Talks with Gachhadar-led FDA ‘positive’

KATHMANDU: A meeting between the three-party talks team and agitating Federal Democratic Alliance, led by Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, today ended positively, said leaders present in the meeting.

The meeting held at the central office of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic concluded positively, said talks team member and Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya. Both parties agreed on how to make the present political agenda acceptable to all, he said.

The government team assured the Alliance that administrative hurdles seen in enforcement of decisions made by the government to create an atmosphere of talks with Front would be addressed soon. Both parties agreed on solving the present problem of the country soon, he claimed.

The meeting also agreed to address some of demands put forth by the front in an amendment to the Constitution, said talks team member and CPN-UML Chief Whip Agni Kharel.

MJF-Democratic Vice-Chairman Jitendra Dev said the meeting ran in a cordial atmosphere.

Both parties were univocal on seeking a way out to the present adversity as soon as possible.

Financial relief to the families of those killed during the Tarai/ Madhes agitation, withdrawal of lawsuits filed against those arrested during the agitation and free treatment of the injured were among the preconditions set by the Alliance before sitting for talks with the government.

The front has been urged to come up with a substantive proposal to sort out disputes regarding the demarcation of federal units.

MJF-Democratic Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and MJF-Republic Chair Raj Kishor Yadav were also present in the meeting.
