ML 4.1 tremor recorded with epicentre in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A light tremor of local magnitude 4.1 was recorded in Kathmandu at 6:10 am on Monday morning. The National Seismological Centre listed it as an aftershock of the April 25 earthquake

The coordinates of the epicentre are given as 27.78°E, 85.39°N and the epicentre lies in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park on the northern outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley.

The NSC records show that as many as 415 aftershocks of local magnitude 4.0 or above have followed the devastating April 25 earthquake till today. Hundreds of aftershocks were also felt after April 25. An aftershock of local magnitude 3.0 had occured at 9:11 on November 25 with its epicentre in Gothatar of Kathmandu. |

The last significant aftershock was of local magnitude 4.1 with its epicentre in Kavrepalanchok district was recorded on November 27.
