Over 2,000 people get landownership certificates in Mahottari

GAUSHALA, MAHOTTARI: A total of 2,461 people in Balawa Municipality and Mahottari Rural Municipality have got landownership certificates. With this, their long struggle to get landownership certificates has ended.

A joint team from the Mahottari District Survey Office (DSO) and the National Land Rights Forum (NLRF) reached their doorsteps and distributed the certificates, said the survey team chief Umesh Lal Karna.

As many as 731 people in Balawa and 1,730 in Mahottari were provided with the landownership certificates, according to District coordinator Rajkumar Basnet of National Land Rights Forum.

Likewise, approximately 21,000 people who are living in public land in the district will be provided with landownership certificates soon, said Chairperson of the Forum Sinmaya Giri.
