Bhanu Jayanti celebration marred by little money

DAMAULI: Financial constraint has restricted the marking of birth anniversary of Aadikavi (first poet) Bhanu Bhakta Acharya to just three days in his birthplace in Tanahu district.

Until some years ago the celebration would last for a week. However, citing the lack of funds for the week long programme, the 204th birth anniversary of Aadi Kavi will be celebrated for three days on July 11, 12 and 13.  in his birth place Chudi Ramgha in Tanahun.

Bhanu Jayanti Main Organising Committee has decided to mark the poet's  204th birthday for three days in his birthplace by organising various programmes. On the first day, the poet’s creation will be recited followed by organising poetry competition and cultural programme on the second day.

On July 13, the Committee is going to organise morning rally, garlanding on the statue of Bhanubhakta, recitation of Ramayan, poets’ workshop, cultural procession and speakers’ notes.

Shree Bhakta Acharya, president of the Bhanu Birthplace Development Committee, which has been formed to preserve the remnants of the bard's birthplace, said the Committee has aimed to bring a large number of  litterateurs in Chudi Ramgha  from across the country  on the anniversary, adding that thorough preparations for this were made.
