Rawal against protest for provincial capitals

Dhangadi, January 17

CPN-UML Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal today urged people not to enforce strike demanding provincial capitals as the provincial headquarters would be determined by provincial assemblies.

Speaking at a press meet organised in Dhangadi, Rawal said, “The constitution has set the provision that provincial capitals would be decided through two-thirds majority of the respective provincial assemblies.”  He added that the provincial capitals declared by the government were temporary.

In another context, Rawal expressed displeasure with the Election Commission for not announcing the results of the parliamentary polls.

The UML leader Rawal also flayed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for his remark that there was no party with majority for his government to hand over power.

“The left alliance has garnered a clear majority. Deuba does not know that power should be handed over to the party that has a majority,” Rawal said.
