Electric rickshaws flourishing in Damauli

The E-rickshaw has become a growing attraction in Damauli, the district headquarters of Tanahun as soon as it wast launched.

With the capacity of carrying seven passengers, people in the area are impressed by this pollution free ride.

Sujan Shakya of Byas Municipality bought two rickshaws worth Rs 370,000 each from a Narayangadh-based showroom. As many as five such rickshaws, two for ferrying goods and three for carrying passengers, have been introduced in Damauli. Shakya said that the rickshaws had proved a good source of income and were operating from January 11 in Damauli.

Suman Shrestha, a rickshaw driver, said that it can run for 120 kilometres with a single full-charge.

“The rickshaws have been operating from Damauli to Kantar, charging Rs 20 for each passenger,” he informed.

A local, Pratikshya Shrestha of Byas Municipality said that the e-rickshaw was pollution free,comfortable and provided relief to passengers during the fuel crisis.
