ILAM: The Ilam District Court has slapped 10 years in jail to a person for raping a mentally retarded woman.

District Judge Nabaraj Dahal handed down the 10-year jail term to the 62-year-old Bir Bahadur Tamang aka Maila of Jirmale-8 and slapped Rs 25,000 in fine to provide to the victim, Registrar at the Court Jagadishwor Bhattarai said.

It is said that the convict had raped the woman four months ago when she was alone at her home.
