Shooting victim's body yet to be sent for postmortem

DHANGADHI: The body of Govinda Gautam, who was allegedly killed by Indian border security personnel in Anandra Bazaar area of Punarbas Municipality of Kanchanpur district, has not been sent for the postmortem yet.

The victim's family have refused to collect the body and send it for the forensic examination demanding that he be declared a martyr and the Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel involved in the case be brought to book.

The body has been kept at the CP Hospital in the neighbouring Kailali district.

Seriously injured in the shooting incident on the no mona's land yesterday, Gautam was declared dead upon his arrival at the Seti Zonal Hospital in Dhangadhi.

Meanwhile, locals have been protesting in various parts of Kailali and Kanchanpur districts protesting the killing.

The protesters also shut various border check points in the district today as well.

The Prime Minister's CPN Maoist Centre party has imposed a general shutdown in the Province No. 7 today, demanding actions against the culprits.

The party has claimed that the victim was its cadre.
