Kaski assistant attorney arrested with Rs 500,000 graft money

POKHARA: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Pokhara arrested an assistant attorney at the District Government Attorney's Office, Kaski on the charge of graft from his office on Wednesday morning.

A team of CIAA officials from Pokhara office arrested Assistant Attorney Surendra Bahadur Thapa with Rs 500,000 graft money from his office in Pardi at around 8:45 am today.

It has been learnt that Thapa asked for the bribe to not appeal a fraud case in Supreme Court.

Thapa has been kept in the custody of CIAA for further investigation.

Similarly, Pokhara CIAA arrested two persons along with Rs 50,000 bribe money from Department of Land Revenue, Kaski.

The CIAA team arrested two land revenue officials -- officer Khyam Narayan Paudel and non-technical class II non-gazetted officer (Kharidar) Sanjay Sharma on Tuesday from the office premise.

According to Pokhara CIAA, both are being detained at the District Police Office, Kaski for further investigation.
