Phidim, April 9

A teenage boy missing for the past 11 days was found dead at Ravi VDC-1, Panchthar last evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sukhbir Rai. Rai went missing when he had been to neighbouring Aarubote VDC to attend a cultural programme eleven days ago. Family members and relatives had registered a missing complaint at Area Police Office, Ravi.

Inspector Git Narayan Chaudhary said that the body was recovered from Likhiya Khola at Ravi VDC-2 during a search operation launched by

the police.

As per preliminary investigation, police suspect that Anil Rai from Ravi VDC-1 might have killed Sukhbir, inspector Chaudhary said. “An eyewitness told the police that Anil under the influence of alcohol had blocked Sukhbir’s way and thrashed him to death for no reason,” Chaudhary said. The culprit had warned of finishing off the eyewitness if he reported the incident to the police. Police have kept the name of the eyewitness secret.

According to police, they are searching for

the culprit. Body of Sukhbir has been sent to the district hospital for postmortem.
