Relief goods yet to reach Lamjung district HQ residents

LAMJUNG: Population hit by the April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks in Beshisahar and Sundar Bazaar municipalities of Lamjung district have not received any relief material yet.

Even four months have already passed since the quake, even locals of the district headquarters Beshisahar are deprived of relief goods.

Residents of adjourning villages, however, were relieved with the relief packages.

According to Executive Officer of the Beshisahar Municipality, the relief distribution has been delayed due to contradicting reports on the number of quake-destroyed houses submitted by police and technical teams.

The Municipality has directed and mobilised concerned government authorities, civil society, police, ward secretaries, social activists and representatives of political parties to point out the exact damage caused by the earthquake.

Sukadev Lamsal, Chief Executive of the Sundar Bazaar Municipality, informed that the relief package will only be distributed once the victims’ list is verified and provided by the District Administration Office.

The District Administration Office has informed that 12,871 houses were completely destroyed and 11,010 were partially damaged by the April 25 devastating earthquake in the district.
