Security beefed up in Nepal-India border

KANCHANPUR:  Tight security arrangements have been laid out preceding the Dashain and Tihar festival in Kanchanpur district, near Indian border.

The action follows the reports of cross-border crimes that includes drug dealings, arms smuggling, women trafficking, terrorist activities, and other criminal activities, Inspector Bharat Chaudhary of Area Police Office, Belauri said.

The security personnel have been placed on high alert and deputed round- the-clock to avert any untoward incidents before and during the festival.

Moreover, he informed that the security arrangements have been stepped up in cooperation with the Indian security personnel in the area.

Police have been mobilised both in civvies and uniform to maintain security after identifying the potential areas for unwanted activities, Inspector Chaudhary said.
