UDMF wants statute process halted for talks

KATHMANDU: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Thursday demanded that the government halt the on-going constitution writing process to create an environment for talks.

Issuing a press statement in response to a joint appeal of major three parties, the Front said halting the statute writing process would not affect guarantee of promulgation of constitution.

The agitating bloc has further argued that the government is yet to express its clear opinion regarding the bloc's demand to implement the 22-point and eight-point agreements, signed with Madhesi parties earlier.

The UDMF, however, has argued that the Front is committed to solve the crisis through talks and issue the constitution from the Constituent Assembly.
