DAMAULI, July 19

Police have arrested a woman after she murdered her newly born son in Shyamgha VDC, Tanahun, on sunday.

Twenty-two-year-old Nagarin Miya from Thuprek VDC, currently residing at her mother’s house in Shyamgha VDC murdered her baby son and buried him near the toilet after giving birth to him yesterday night, said Inspector Prem Shankar Chaudhary of District Police Office .

Acting on a tip off, the police team reached the incident site and recovered the minor’s body from the ditch. ‘’The woman has been taken under control,’’ said police, adding that the minor’s body has been kept in Damauli Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, District Police Office, Tanahun, said a murder case had been filed against the woman.

It is said that the woman’s husband is in Qatar since three years. Police suspect she might have been in an illicit relationship, which is why she killed her newborn.

Police allegedly, said that she was in an illicit relationship with Ram Thapa Magar, 19, of Camin VDC, adding that she might have killed her newborn to prevent people from finding out about her illicit relationship with Magar.

A police team is searching for Ram who fled the scene after the incident.
