Indian players clean sweep doubles titles

Lalitpur, February 17

Indian players bagged the doubles titles of the Nepal ITF juniors U-18 Circuit-II Tennis Championship here at Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

In the all-India boys’ doubles final, the pair of Aditya Iyer and Piyush S Salekar defeated Gunjan Jadhav and Atharva Sharma 7-6 (13), 7-5. Jadhav and Sharma had won the title of the Nepal ITF juniors U-18 Circuit-I title last week. In girls’ doubles final, Vaidehi Chaudhary and Shivani Swarup Ingle thrashed Chinese pair of Yujiao Che and Jingyi Wang 6-3, 6-3 to make it a double delight for India.

Chaudhary and Ingle also entered the girls’ singles final. Chaudhary recorded a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Mingqiao Yang of China, while Ingle defeated another Chinese player Yujiao Che 6-3, 6-3. In boys’ singles semi-finals, Mritunjay Badola defeated fellow Indian Theertha S Mecherla 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, while China’s Pengyu Lu outplayed Aryan Zaveri of India 7-6 (5), 6-3 to make it to the final.
