Preparations for Simara Gold Cup completed

BARA: Nava Janajagriti Youth Club has completed all the preparations for the ninth Ruslan Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament scheduled for February 8-16.

Organising a press-meet on Tuesday, tournament host Nava Janajagriti informed that artists Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Kunjana Ghimire (Suntali) will inaugurate the tournament to be held at Simara Stadium of Bara.

A total of 10 teams will take part in the tournament, informed Nava Janajagriti President Kasim Miya. Defending Champion Sankata Club, Three Star, Tribhuvan Army Club, Armed Police Force are the major domestic sides to feature in the competition. Likewise, Morang Football Club, Bijay Youth Club, Far-western XI, Birgunj Youth United along with two teams from home team Nava Janajagriti will take part in the tournament.

Although, A Division outfits including Manang Marshyangdi Club, Jawalakhel Youth Club and Jhapa XI had confirmed their participation in the tournament, they have pulled their names.

Top two teams will be awarded with Rs 551,000 and Rs 250,000 respectively, while the best player of the event will take home a motorbike. Similarly, the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward, highest scorer and coach will receive Rs 15,000 each, while the man-of-the-match will get Rs 5,000.

The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 7.6 million. Vijay Distillery Pvt Ltd is the main sponsor of the tournament.

Meanwhile, organiser also informed a temporary parapet has been placed to accommodate around 5,000 spectators.
