Landslide damages seven houses in Raksirang, Kailash RMs

Seven houses in Raksirang and Kailash rural municipalities of Makawanpur district were destroyed by landslides last night following incessant rainfall for the past few days.

Property worth tens of thousands of rupees was damaged.

Chairperson of Raksirang Rural Municipality Raj Kumar Malla said the landslide at Charimar of Raksirang damaged houses and swept away some cowsheds.

The landslide swept away the house of local Bir Bahadur Sunar, a cowshed of Buddhilal Praja of the same ward and buried a house of Som Bahadur Praja, he added.

Similarly, a house belonging to Banaili Maya Praja of the same ward was swept away by landslide and four other houses are at risk.

Malla said families affected by the landslide had to be shifted to a safe place as it was still raining.

Likewise, the landslide damaged three houses in Ward 2, 3 and 4 of Kailash Rural Municipality.

Focal person of the Rural Municipality Disaster Management Committee Shyam Kumar Mahato said that the landslide had killed cattle and damaged crops.

Locals said 35 houses of Ward 10 of Kailash Rural Municipality were at risk of landslide. Internet connectivity and power supply has been disrupted in the area, it is learnt.
