KATHMANDU, JULY 5

The Constitutional Bench formed to hear the writs filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's move to dissolve the House of Representatives has concluded its proceedings.

A verdict on the case is expected to be issued on July 12, the date on which the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court will assemble next.

Over two dozen writs were filed at the apex court against the PM and President's move to dissolve House.

After hearing arguments of advocates on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, and that of Speaker of House of Representatives, the Bench on Sunday had sought an insight into the case from amicus curiae.

A 146-lawmaker strong opposition alliance too had moved the court demanding reinstatement of the lower house along with appointment of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister for staking claim to the post pursuant to Article 76 (5) of the Constitution.
