KATHMANDU, JULY 20

CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and discussed the common minimum programme for the coalition government.

Dahal's Personal Aide Bishnu Sapkota said the two leaders agreed to formulate a common programme on behalf of the five-party alliance.

Deuba will induct more ministers from the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre when he expands the Cabinet. Coalition partner Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal will also join the government.

Deuba and Dahal also agreed to scrap all political appointments made by the KP Sharma Oli government, bypassing the parliamentary oversight. The government has already scrapped the Oli government's recent decision to appoint ambassadors to some countries.

Dahal and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal Co-chair Upendra Yadav also met CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Leaders of the Nepal faction of the UML, the CPN-MC, and the JSP-N had voted in favour of Deuba.

Prime Minister Deuba later went to Dahal's residence in Khumaltar and enquired about his wife Sita, who has been suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, an uncommon brain disorder that causes serious problems with walking.
