Nepali Congress leader Sunil Kumar Yadav has been elected party president for Rautahat district.

Yadav defeated his rival Hridaya Narayan Yadav by 208 votes during the 14th district conference. While Sunil Kumar Yadav, who represents the establishment faction, secured 1,362 votes, his rival Hridaya Narayan Yadav got 1,064 votes.

Except for the post of secretary, every other official elected is from Yadav's panel. The voting slated initially for Saturday had been postponed and held on Monday at the Gaur-based Juddha Secondary School.
