Organisational structures ready for health facilities

The Ministry of Health and Population has fixed the model organisational structure and details of human resources to be mobilised for the five-bed, 10-bed, and 15-bed basic health facilities that will be operated and managed by the local levels.
The liabilities and expenses to be incurred for the human resources will be borne by the local governments.
According to the organisational structure provided by the MoHP to the local level through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the five-bed basic health facilities will provide clinical and diagnostic services and comprise emergency service unit, OPD unit, in-patient unit and hospital pharmacy for providing clinical and diagnostic services under the coordination of a medical officer. The total number of posts sanctioned for five-bed basic health facilities is 18 each.
Similarly, 10-bed basic health facilities will have OPD unit, lab unit, administration unit, radioimaging unit, emergency service unit, in-patient unit and hospital pharmacy led by a medical officer for providing clinical and diagnostic services. The total number of posts sanctioned for 10- bed basic health facilities is 22 each.
Likewise, 15-bed basic health facilities will have OPD unit, in-patient unit, hospital management unit, lab unit, administration unit, radio-imaging unit, emergency service unit, in-patient unit and hospital pharmacy led by a medical generalist. The total number of posts sanctioned for 15-bed basic health facilities is 22 each, said MoFAGA in a circular issued to the local levels today.
According to the MoFA- GA, the health institutions were established in line with the Guideline for Basic Health Service Centre Construction-2020, Guideline for Design and Construction of Health Infrastructure-2020, among other prevailing laws and standards.
The Policies and Programmes for the fiscal 2020- 21 had stated that five to 15- bed basic hospitals would be established and upgraded at each local level based on their geography and population.
The Ministry of Finance has allocated seven million rupees for a five-bed hospital, Rs 8.5 million for a 10- bed hospital and Rs 10 million for a 15-bed hospital.
