NEPSE loses 18 points on Wednesday; daily turnover at just Rs 1.814b

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, the sole secondary market of the country, fell by 18.60 points or 0.91 percent on Wednesday. The index had gained 18.45 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark index, which opened at 2,023.52 points, reached its highest point, 2026.58 points, in today's trading at 11:01 am before declining throughout the day to close at 2,004.30 points.
In today's trading, the sensitive index, which measures the performance of class 'A' stocks, also fell by 0.85 percent or 3.29 points to 382.94 points. Similarly, the float index, which gauges the performance of shares actually traded, also fell by 0.87 percent or 1.22 points to 139.22 points.
Altogether, 7,061,404 shares of 282 scrips were traded during the day through 58,367 transactions, amounting to a turnover of over Rs 1.814 billion. The total turnover was Rs 2.093 billion on Tuesday.
In today's market, all the sub-indices were in the red, with the hydropower index losing the most with a 1.51 percent drop, followed by the finance index with a 1.42 percent drop. The total market capitalization in today's trading was at Rs 33.038 trillion.
